Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs)

Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) provide an ideal solution for individuals who experience difficulty managing their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) at home, yet wish to maintain as much independence as possible. These communities promote a supportive, maintenance-free lifestyle while offering consistent assistance with ADLs such as eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management.
ALFs vary widely in size and scope, ranging from small, home-like settings to larger, more comprehensive communities. Each facility offers structured meal plans, with meals served in a communal dining environment to encourage social interaction. A diverse array of social activities and outings is typically scheduled on a monthly basis. While participation is voluntary, engagement in these activities is strongly encouraged to foster social well-being and a sense of community.
Additional services often include laundry, housekeeping, and transportation to medical appointments, shopping centers, and places of worship.
Prior to admission, a comprehensive assessment is conducted by the resident’s primary care physician in collaboration with the facility’s clinical and administrative staff. This assessment serves as a medical directive, enabling the facility to deliver appropriate, individualized care and determine any associated costs for specialized services. To ensure continuity and appropriateness of care, the assessment is reviewed and updated regularly, based on the resident’s evolving needs.
